What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are the people who work in ambulances
across the nation to provide emergency care to the sick and injured.
EMT's have learned basic and advanced medical skills to be able to
help their patients during transport to nearby medical centers.
EMTs often work with other public safety professionals during rescues
involving everything from car accidents, plane crashes, to medical
emergencies such as heart attacks and strokes.
EMTs usually work in teams with another EMT or a Paramedic in ambulances
and fire trucks across the country. Generally one member of the
team drives while the other works on the patient. In order to take
care of their patients, EMTs are well versed in medical procedures,
medical ethics, advanced life support and special rescue techniques.
What do I have to do to become and EMT?
All EMT candidates must successfully complete an approved EMT program
recognized by the State Office of EMS, and then successfully pass
their National Registry Certification Exams. Attending the class
alone does NOT certify you as an EMT. You must pass your national
exams in order to become certified.
What does an "approved program" mean?
All EMT programs in the state of Georgia must be recognized and
approved by the State Office of EMS. Faithful Guardian Training
Center works closely with our state training specialist in order
to provide you with the most up to date information and prepare
you for you national certification.
What makes your school the best choice?
When you embark on your EMT training you will have many options
available to you. The two main avenues to obtain your certification
is to complete a program at a technical school or private school.
Faithful Guardian Training Center is a private school located in
the West Georgia Area that specializes in emergency medical and
safety education. Our only focus is occupational safety and health
education.
Also, consider these important points:
- Our programs are 4-7 months long for our combined EMT Basic/Intermediate
courses. Technical school programs often last 13 months or more.
- Our program does NOT involve any core classes or mandatory entrance
tests. Technical school programs require you to pass an entrance
exam and attend multiple core classes.
- Our student to instructor ratios are much better than most schools.
- Our program consist of classroom learning, clinical experience,
online instruction and support, and a large instructor network.
- Our program often cost 75% less than other private schools.
Do you offer financial aid?
Considering that we are a private school, we are not eligible for
many state and federal grants or loans. We do offer financial options
for our students which includes a quarterly $500 scholarship and
numerous payment options.
There are many financial aid programs that are available for private
educational pursuits that can researched on the internet and is
not associated with Faith.
